There are six prominent variants of the ATR 42 &
72. There specifications are examined.
The ATR 42-500 and 72-500 are powered by the
PW127E/F, utilising a six-bladed propeller. The
ATR 42-500 has a 34-38 knot faster cruising
speed than its -300/-320 counterpart variants.
The six-bladed propeller lowers specific fuel
consumption and noise emissions.
