The 737NG is the most populous airliner in operation, and its numbers are due to increase by a further 2,000 units. The majority of aircraft are operated on average flight cycle lengths of 1.5-2.0 flight hours and at annual rates of utilisation of about 3,000 flight hours per year. The aircraft’s maintenance programme, the airframe’s & engine’s maintenance requirements, and overall maintenance costs are examined.
