Bombardier has pioneered the regional jet market and won orders at an
alarming pace. Embraer’s late entry means it has not been able to catch
up, but it has still caught an appreciable market share. Regional jets have
not killed the turboprop market completely. Europe still provides a large
home for used turboprops where regional jets cannot compete.
